Dinosaur Performance is Happening

So what happens when you find other dinosaur loving, model horse nerds...Clearly you conspire and inspire people to combine the two. Part of me started this whole new venture so I could do just that, but also focus on the two as separate but equal passions. But then something magical happened. It started with a nudge..

As you can see, clearly...I'm not alone.
But then another push happened...and that got the ball rolling.

Erin Michelle of Corbett Saddles did indeed come right back to the convo. I imagine she knew where the saddles were, but how quickly could she find her Brachiosaurus? Mine is at work!

I was a tad late to the party, but speaking of Other Animal Performance, and Big Dreams Performance I'd really like to recreate this scene done by RJ Palmer (thanks Cameron). you can see his original post here, and surprisingly enough we are alumni from the same school!

Enough dinosaurs...Oh I can bring some dinosaurs

This is why I'm stoked to get to The Jennifer Show. A true tribe of artists, nerds, and good times.

Currently Lauren (Brooklyn) Hoeffert of Desert Sun Studios is making an Eohippus, out of a Smart Chick Olena (my best guess) and currently I'm working on a custom Brighty for her. Which will be a Ceratopsian mash-up. I believe you'll be able to see the Eohippus in person at Breyerfest in the Artisans Gallery, And I hope like hell I can get that Tridonkotops (working title) finished soon.
I guess exotic classes just got even more difficult. lol.
Way back when the Model Horse Jamboree happened in Pomona, California I entered the Model Horse customizing challenge the year that Silver was the model. I turned mine into a Tyrannosaur horse hybrid.I may have the photo somewhere. But I may just want to revisit that idea. It's rare I work in larger scales but now that NAMHSA changed it's fantasy rules, I will now focus my attention to said mash-ups!
But hold your horses, that doesn't mean you can run off and start just adding saddles to dinosaurs, in order to get your dino/horse fix, if you plan to compete at Nationals (NAN), you have to go for scene in performance. However if it's a 50/50 combo that works for halter, and it can go both to workmanship and fantasy that opens it up a bit more.
The Jennifer show specifically has an Other Animal Performance class...This is DIFFERENT, then the scene class or Other Performance. In the fact that, horses are now the props, or literally it's another animal doing work so to speak. So Dog herding could go here, it's about time I can use a Breyer pup
For performance ideas there are a number of films that feature dinosaurs, and even a few that combine dinosaurs and horses. Legendary old school stop-motion films like Valley of Gwangi.
Or modern B flick creature features like Cowboys Vs. Dinosaurs, which at the time of this post was streaming on Netflix, and it's full-on low budget film with Turbosquid JP Pack dinosaurs terrorizing a small town in Montana. It's a cheese fest, but hey...Have you made a film with CG dinosaurs, it's not easy as you think and requires professionals who um...don't work for free. So if you ain't got millions, it ain't no walk in the Jurassic Park (*snort).
With compelling imagery such as above, I'm amazed they aren't at least in line for a razzy. But part of me would still totally work on this as a compositor, because hey... I have a need to play with all things dinosaur and horses. Seriously I kick myself everyday for not offering help on Kung Fury (But I was super busy in my defense!).
Speaking of Kung Fury, it's free, and if you are a liberty loving individual..who might also have a need to punch Nazi's in the face...This could maybe also be considered Dino Performance.
Laser Raptors...enough said.
